📚 Booked and busy

A large crowd browses tables stacked with books under a white event tent. People of various ages flip through pages, chat, and examine titles. The tables are neatly arranged with colorful book covers, and the atmosphere is lively and bustling.

The countdown is on until Texas Book Festival — Austin’s annual free celebration of reading — and its 30th anniversary this year.

Mark your calendar for Saturday, Nov. 8 + Sunday, Nov. 9, because the first star-studded round of authors is here. Keep your eyes peeled for the full list of 250+ authors on Wednesday, Sept. 10, but here are a few of the authors we’re most excited to see.

Chelsea Handler | This comedian, TV host, and writer will be at the festival chatting about her autobiography, “I’ll Have What She’s Having.”

Ali Hazelwood | The author, known for her contemporary romance novels like “The Love Hypothesis,” will be at the festival just after the release of her new novel, “Mate.”

Skip Hollandsworth | A staple at Texas Monthly since 1989, Hollandsworth’s new true crime book comes out in the fall.

R.L. Stine | Get excited if you grew up reading “Goosebumps,” because the best-selling author’s new novel, “The Last Sleepover,” comes out on Tuesday, Aug. 5.

The Buy

The Wrap

I went to a sample sale for Kitty and Vibe, a local clothing company, over the weekend and secured a jumpsuit that didn’t make it to production. The team told me it’s one of only two that exist, so I’m feeling pretty exclusive right now.
