The Midnight Cowboy Arcana features cocktails and mocktails with many named after real cards, like the “High Priestess.” | Photos by ATXtoday
A visit to Midnight Cowboy, aka Austin’s prohibition-themed speakeasy, is in the cards.
Midnight Cowboy recently debuted its tarot card-themed menu, which features 27 cocktails + mocktails made with divination in mind.
Our favorites were the “Homunculi” with notes of pistachio and the “Cosmic Dancer,” which comes with orange bubbly to mix. Keep an eye out for savory beverages like the “Wheel of Fortune.”
The speakeasy is reservation-only, so secure your spot and ring the buzzer marked “Harry Craddock” when you arrive.

Scientists with UT Austin and Texas A&M University are helping to build the GMTNIRS, which help the telescope observe the near-infrared spectrum of light. Check in on your neighbor — they might just be a millionaire. Austin is the No. 12 city for millionaire renters, with 207 households leasing in town. That’s more than any other city in Texas — Dallas has 185 millionaire households that rent and Houston has 179.
Weather
We’re in for a hot week, with high temperatures holding strong at 95º to 97º. There’s only one thing to do when the Texas sun burns this bright: jump in the pool. Check out our list of hotel pools offering day passes.
Feel Good
Speaking of hot weather, the people and pets at Texas Humane Heroes in Leander don’t have to worry about it anymore. Austin Air Conditioning donated and installed three AC units to the animal shelter, which had gone 15 years without an HVAC system. (KVUE)

I had the chance to get a sneak preview of the Balloon Museum’s Austin pop-up: “Let’s Fly — Art Has No Limits.” My personal favorite piece is “Her Joy,” a perpetually inflating and deflating disco ball. The museum is open now through Sunday, Nov. 2 — get tickets.
