Good news for readers and coffee drinkersCafé Crème is now in its soft opening phase at the Central Library.

The Vietnamese and French coffee shop will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. during its soft launch. Owners plan to expand the menu and hours in the coming weeks.

City Editor Figi here. I used to live right near Café Crème’s East Oltorf Street location, so I visited a lot. The menu is really impressive, but don’t leave without trying the Cafe Sua Da (aka Vietnamese iced coffee), London Fog tea latte, and one of the sweet or savory crepes.

Happy caffeinating.

News Notes

Outdoors

Summer is coming. The summer solstice is this Friday, June 20, which marks the astronomical start of the season. It’s also the longest day of the year — measured by the amount of daylight — and the sun will set in Austin at 8:35 p.m.

Number

62.5 mg. That’s how much caffeine is in an ounce of espresso — nearly four times the amount in an ounce of brewed coffee. If this data has you buzzing for your next jolt of energy, find your caffeine fix at one of Austin’s coffee shops. (Visual Capitalist)

Sports

If you ever meet the 21-year-old US winner of the French Open, Coco Gauff, don’t mention that you just crushed your recent pickleball tournament — she probably won’t be impressed. We will, and that’s all that matters; here’s how to play in ATX.

Seasonal

Lettuce celebrate Fresh Veggies Day, which is today. The observance commemorates the nutritional value of vegetables, and there’s no better way to partake than by stocking up at a local farmers market.

Older Adults

Uber is introducing new accounts for seniors with features like a larger typeface, fewer buttons, and easier-to-follow instructions. It’s now live in Austin — good news if you were planning to take an Uber to the next big event. (The Verge)
