News Notes

Announced

Guess who’s back, back again? Blues on the Green is back — tell a friend. The free music festival in Zilker Park is set for Tuesday, Aug. 5-Wednesday, Aug. 6. Mark your calendar + stay tuned for the lineup.

Open

Café Crème, a new coffee shop and French-Vietnamese restaurant inside the Austin Central Library, is in its soft opening phase. Drinks and pastries are available now, but the menu will soon expand to include more food items + cocktails. Psst — the shop has a brick-and-mortar East Oltorf Street.

Coming Soon

After 13 years of business, Cenote quietly closed its east Austin cafe at the end of April... but its next chapter is already brewing. Owner Mary Jenkins plans to reopen the local favorite this summer in the former Revival Coffee site on East 7th Street. (Community Impact)

The Word

Microburst. That’s what last Wednesday’s storm is called, and it’s defined as a stand-alone storm caused by extreme air temperature differences and clashing wind currents. Austin’s storm was a “long track microburst” due to how long it lasted. (KUT)

Mansion Monday

Take a look inside this 6-bed, 10-bath residence aptly named The Prominence of Austin. Aside from its stunning Hill Country views and lush landscaping, the newly renovated mansion features a seven-car garage, a guest house, an infinity pool, and a custom wine cellar.

The Wrap

Today’s edition by: Morgan

ATX TV Festival really knows how to throw a party. In a weekend’s work, we sat in on conversations with the casts of “King of the Hill,” “The Gilded Age,” and “Landman,” plus a panel with Seth Meyers.

One of my favorite events at the festival, however, was a showcase where UT Austin students premiered pilot episodes they filmed and created over the last year. I have a feeling many future superstars are in this photo.
