Reserving a pickleball court in Austin can be challenging, especially since Austin is the country’s pickleball capital and the No. 3 most “pickleball-obsessed” city in the US.

Here are nine places to play pickleball in Austin, based on your athletic style.

Austin Parks and Recreation Department Pickleball Courts
Austin’s parks department offers 20 free pickleball locations around the city. Read the fine print before you go, because some locations are first-come, first-served, but others require a reservation.

Bouldin Acres
After playing, grab a drink at the bar, order food from CM Smokehouse, and soak in the sun on this dog-friendly patio — the site also features a playground and dog park.

The mural includes graphics of people playing pickleball, a cowboy on a horse, and the text "Not Your Average Pickleball Club" and "Austin, Texas." A lone pickleball rests on the court.

No need to wait for courts at this Eastside Paddle Club — it’s one of the biggest in the city and features 10 courts.

The Wrap

On the left, an orange bubble with City Editor Figi and a goat inside. On the right, the name "Figi."
I’m sad to admit this, but I just lost my 150-day reading streak. The only thing I can do is start over, so as I turn a new page, here’s a local book recommendation: “The Which Way Tree” by Elizabeth Crook. It’s a gripping adventure set in the Hill Country during the Civil War era.

If that doesn’t sound appealing, try out one of these other books by local authors.
