What’s that sound? Ah, it’s the sounds of summer: kids jumping in the pool, hot dogs sizzling on the grill, and ice-cold cocktails being shaken to perfection.
This season, with help from Deep Eddy Vodka, we’re changing up our cocktail recipes and elevating some favorites to make sure we’re sipping on the best sips of the season. The best part? These recipes are easy to whip up.
Combine Deep Eddy Original Vodka, lime juice, and a couple fresh basil leaves in a cocktail shaker and shake with ice for 30 seconds. Strain over fresh ice in a rocks glass and top with ginger beer. Garnish with a fresh basil leaf.
Fill a Collins glass with ice. Add the first five ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice and give a quick two-second shake to dilute and blend the salt. Strain over fresh ice and garnish with a wedge of grapefruit.

🧡 City Editor Morgan’s favorites
Cheers to one year at ATXtoday. | Graphic by ATXtoday
Hi y’all, City Editor Morgan here. I’m celebrating my one-year anniversary at ATXtoday, and my favorite part about the job is exploring the Capital City.
In honor of spending 365 days in your inbox, I’m sharing 10 of my favorite places in Austin. Let’s dive in.
Lunch: Pool Burger
My ideal day in Austin? Spend the morning swimming at Deep Eddy Pool or paddling around Lady Bird Lake, then recharge with a cocktail + bite to eat at Pool Burger. Here’s my order: the Pool Burger (add avocado), crinkle-cut fries with a side of aioli, and a Mai Tai or Frozen Hurricane.
Shop: Pavement
When I get a compliment on my outfit, my response is most likely, “Thanks, it’s from Pavement.” From wedding guest dresses to closet staples, a significant portion of my wardrobe comes from the buy/sell/trade shop. Psst — its sister store, Leopard Lounge, is also a top destination for vintage finds.
A plumping and hydrating eye cream with 20,000+ five-star reviews. It features a caffeine-infused peptide complex that depuffs, brightens, and helps prevent wrinkles.
Speaking of anniversaries... farm-to-table restaurant Foreign & Domestic will celebrate 15 years of business with a free pig roast from 4 to 7 p.m. this Sunday, May 18 in its parking lot. Beer and wine will be available for purchase.
