We hope you’re hungry. Everybody eats when they attend the Austin Food & Wine Festival, and it’s shaping up to be delicious.
Now in its 12th year, the festival will showcase 70+ restaurants, dozens of local chefs, a host of wine and spirits vendors, tasting sessions, demos, and “Meet the Maker” events.
The fun begins on Friday, Nov. 1 and runs through Sunday, Nov. 3 at Auditorium Shores. VIP and resale tickets are still available, starting at $195 for a day pass, $275 for a weekend pass, and $750 for a VIP pass. Let’s dig in.
Take cooking demos from the pros, meet professional chefs + food lovers, and watch food cooked over live fire in front of your eyes at the festival.

Know before you go
Bags need to be clear or have only one pocket — all bags will be searched before entry.
Reusable water containers are encouraged but must be empty upon arrival.
Ride share is encouraged (pickup and drop-off will be located at 950 W. Riverside Dr.) but parking is available at the RiverSouth Garage and One Texas Center Garage.
The festival is 21+, so don’t bring anyone underage.
Tasting and Meet the Maker sessions fill up quickly, so make sure to get in line early.

The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is expanding in collaboration with local firm Lake|Flato Architects. The project will include upgrades to its program facilities, 284 acres of gardens, guest amenities, plus creation and renovation of research and conservation buildings.

A north Austin shopping center at 9333 Research Blvd. will soon be redeveloped. California-based Stockdale Capital Partners purchased Arboretum Crossing, currently home to shops like World Market and Yoga Pod, with plans to build a high-rise development. (Austin Business Journal)

Some Longhorn fans could be banned from UT sporting events for the rest of the academic year after throwing trash on the field during the team’s weekend game against the Georgia Bulldogs. As a result of the incident, the SEC fined UT Austin $250,000. (KVUE)

🎉 Viva La Vida

The city’s largest and longest-running celebration of Día de los Muertos, a holiday which honors loved ones who have passed, is free to the public. The festivities will be held from 12 to 6 p.m. at Congress Avenue and 4th Street.
The celebration will begin with a parade around down 6th Street from Red River Street to Congress Avenue. Expect an appearance in the procession from Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent god dating back to the Olmec period.
Afterward, guests can enjoy a low-rider exhibition, art activities, vendor booths, performances from Aztec dancers and Ballet Folklorico, a costume contest, and live music.
If you’re not attending the celebration, expect road closures around the parade route starting at 5 a.m.
