Is it just us, or does eating outside make food taste better?

That is, when you can eat outdoors without getting hit with heat exhaustion. Never fear, restaurants with misting fans are here, and we found a handful for you to try out. Pro tip: Don’t miss the shade level we’ve included for each of these locations.

Mozart’s Coffee Roasters | 3825 Lake Austin Blvd. | Partially shaded
This expansive patio overlooking Lake Austin is one of the most popular outdoor coffee stops in Austin and frequently hosts live music.

Aba | 1011 S. Congress Ave. | Partially shaded
You may feel like you’re in a jungle dining on this lush, plant-laden patio at the popular Mediterranean food spot.

Doc’s Backyard Grill | 5207 Brodie Lane, Ste. #100 | Partially shaded
Misting fans plus $2 margaritas on days above 100º makes this Sunset Valley watering hole the ideal summer spot.

The Long Goodbye has everything you need to go from work to play, plus lush scenery.

There’s usually live music playing, a game of volleyball waiting, craft beers on tap, and ample space to sit and relax at this hangout in “way south awesome.”

Perla’s Seafood & Oyster Bar | 1400 S. Congress Ave. | Mostly shaded
Seafood lovers will want to spend their summer at this patio, where you can people watch all of South Congress.

Sway Thai | 3437 Bee Cave Rd. | Partially shaded
This tranquil west Austin restaurant will have you eating well (we recommend the tom kha gai and squid stir fry) while staying cool.

A table full of food like french fries, calamari, mac and cheese in a cast iron pan, spicy shrimp, crab, pork chops, and more.

This is the spread that awaits you at TLC Austin.

You could live in the former home of chef and restaurateur Lou Lambert.

The Castle Hill home, located at 1002 Baylor St., is just a few blocks from the original Whole Foods and BookPeople. With panoramic skyline views, indoor/outdoor living spaces, and a gut-renovated interior, the two-bedroom + two-bathroom home is listed for $1,650,000.

Welcoming custom stone steps greet you at the entrance, where there’s a Downtown-facing screened porch, which leads into the primary bedroom. Views of the city continue through the chef’s kitchen and living room, which both feature custom lighting, sleek fixtures, and millwork.

There’s more outdoor space where that came from — you’ll find a gazebo in the backyard — but don’t overlook indoor amenities like built-in closet and desk areas, high ceilings, and the primary bathroom’s soaking tub.

Take a look at the 1,320-sqft listing, held by Michael Reisor of Douglas Elliman.
