Back In Black | 2 years, 3 months This former street cat was found with a clipped ear and fractured leg, but she’s got a loving spirit that just won’t break. Black — a domestic shorthair — loves other cats and has an affinity for belly rubs.
Josephine | 2 years A former stray and current Desperate Housecat, Josephine is very affectionate when she gets to know you. She may have her boundaries, but this cute kitty warms up quickly.
Soot Sprite | 4 months Despite arriving at Austin Pets Alive! with injuries and ringworm, little Soot Sprite is making a comeback. Her fosters say she doesn’t have a mean bone in her body.
Dogs
Firecracker is young, fun, full of energy, and ready to come home with you.

Firecracker | 1 year In a word, Firecracker’s personality is explosive. This energetic pup — who is a terrier pit mix — loves a big yard for zoomies, is treat-motivated, and loves being around humans and animals alike.
Frodo | 8 years, 10 months This loving terrier-pit mix is one of APA!'s top dog trainees, so he comes to you with tricks galore. Whether you’re throwing a ball around or doing a crossword puzzle, Frodo will happily do it with you.
Oprah | 7 years, 8 months Available to foster or adopt, pointer mix Oprah is house-trained and crate-trained, and loves going for walks and cuddles. This girl is known for her silly facial expressions, so a sense of humor is welcome.

Texas State University will host the first of a series of four presidential debates on Monday, Sept. 16, 2024. This will make Texas State — which is the only Texas university with a president as an alumnus — the first location in the Lone Star State to host a presidential debate.
Travel
Austin-Bergstrom International Airport will be the first of ~100 airports nationwide to implement new tower simulator systems after a safety review by the Federal Aviation Administration. The systems, which are meant to bolster Air Traffic Control safety, will go online in January. (KXAN)
Legacy
Prominent local philanthropist Robert L. Moody died at the age of 88, according to a UT Austin press release. The businessman left a recognizable mark on the city as the face behind the Moody Foundation, Moody College of Communication, and Moody Center.

Former food truck Saigon Le Vendeur opened its new brick-and-mortar restaurant yesterday at 2601 E. 7th St., closing its old truck in the process. Expect the same Vietnamese comfort dishes, plus some seasonal specials. (Eater Austin)
Transit
The annual ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot is this Thursday, Nov. 23, on Thanksgiving morning. The run will close a host of major streets from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Downtown — view a full map of closures.

OpenTable’s 2023 Top 100 Restaurants in the US list includes five Texas restaurants — and all of them are from Austin. The list includes Clark’s Oyster Bar, J Carver’s, Jeffrey’s Restaurant, Red Ash Italia, and Uchi Austin.
