125. That’s how many Austin-based businesses are on the 2023 Inc. 5000 list, which ranks the fastest-growing companies in the nation.

Inc.com determined rankings according to percentage of revenue growth over a three-year period from 2019 to 2022. Of the Austin businesses — which boast 294% median growth and 10,721 jobs created combined — 75 are repeat honorees and 25 are newly founded.

Shout out to all 125 companies that made the list — let’s get to know a few of them.

  • Austin Police Department Chief Joseph Chacon will retire in a matter of weeks, after 25 years working with APD and two years in his current position. APD Chief of Staff Robin Henderson will step in as interim chief beginning the first week of September.

  • An iconic, 100-year-old Barton Springs pecan tree named “Flo” is sick with a wood decay fungus. On request from the Austin Parks and Recreation Department, three certified arborists are currently evaluating the tree’s treatment options.

  • Almost 80% of the residential space for sale is under contract at soon-to-be-completed The Linden Residences. Luxury condominiums in the 28-story downtown tower are going for an average of $1,000 per sqft. (Austin American-Statesman)

  • You’ve heard about throwing stones in glass houses, but what about foam houses? The first home in Texas made from foam is currently under construction in Jonestown, about 40 minutes outside of downtown Austin. Developers say the method requires less material, labor, and energy. (KXAN)

  • After a few years of slowing enrollment, Austin Community College is seeing interest pick back up again. The school projects it will have about 37,000 students this semester, which is ~3,000 fewer than its enrollment in fall 2020, but ~2,000 higher than enrollment last year. (KXAN)
