Get in Austinites, we’re going picnicking.
Grab your picnic blanket, sunglasses, and a few loved ones for the return of Waterloo Greenway’s No. 11 annual Pop-Up Picnic fundraiser from 6-10 p.m. this Saturday, April 1.
By selling curated baskets from local restaurants — ranging in price from $25-$350 — the Pop-Up Picnic directly benefits the Waterloo Greenway Conservancy and helps support free public programming at Waterloo Greenway throughout the year.
So, what’s on the menu?

But wait, there’s more. The Pop-Up Picnic is free to any and all who want to join, including leashed pups, no RSVP required. Just remember not to bring any glass or alcohol in your basket — a limited number of baskets will be sold at the picnic if you change your mind.

Things are heating up in ATX. Meanwhile Brewing + Pinthouse Brewing — which beat Lazarus by less than 1% —are going head-to-head to be crowned the champion of Austin breweries.
Last week we asked if Austin’s new light rail plans served your neighborhood. Here’s what you said:
We counted 145 votes to get these results.
|
Graphic by ATXtoday
Out of 145 votes, 75% said the plans don’t serve their neighborhood, 17% said they do, and nearly 8% said they would be willing to relocate to be closer to public transit.
A few of you came up with suggestions:
“I’m in N. Austin, close to the Domain. If the rail could be extended to the N. Lamar Transit Center that would be nice. Overall though, rail from downtown to the airport is the most needed.”
“Anything from south Austin would be great. I live south of Slaughter Lane and it’s not feasible to use public transportation from my home at all.”
I’ve been a John Mayer fan since high school and have never seen him in concert, so I’m very excited to get tickets to his solo show. Who are you hoping to see perform in Austin this year?
