Malfunctioning equipment cut off power to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport for almost three hours early Wednesday morning, resulting in several delayed and canceled flights + traffic congestion on Texas Hwy. 71 entering the airport. Austin Energy is investigating the cause of the outage. (Austin American-Statesman)

Here’s a scoop: West Virginia-based Ziegenfelder Co., a frozen novelty treat maker, may soon be building a $39 million, 96,000-sqft facility in Lockhart. The company received incentives in the form of a five-year property tax rebate earlier this week. 🍦 (Austin Business Journal)

Nonprofit Go Vamos/Vamos Austin is opening a cooperative grocery store in East Austin with the help of a $500,000 contract from the City of Austin. The team is recruiting ~300 residents to help launch the pilot, which will help provide healthy food in the area. 🥬 (Austonia)
Closing
South Austin’s Crema Bakery & Cafe will close permanently on Sat., Sept. 17 due to staffing issues and rising costs of supplies. Until then, the bakery will be batch-making popular menu items as part of its “fill the freezer” special menu. (KVUE)
Civic
The City of Cedar Park is prohibiting residents from watering their lawns for two weeks starting Wed., Sept. 21. During the ban on irrigation + sprinkler watering, the city plans to repair a water treatment plant pipeline. 💦(KXAN)
East 11th and 12th streets could soon be restored to a Black Cultural District under the Urban Renewal Project, a proposal currently being evaluated by the Austin City Council. Learn more about the proposal, which would change zoning in the area. (KXAN)

Austin is the most polite city in the US, according to a new report from Preply, an e-learning platform.
The study asked residents’ opinions on how often people in their city exhibit rude behavior, such as being absorbed by phones in public or not acknowledging strangers, to build their rudeness ranking.
The rudest cities in the US were Philadelphia, Memphis, and New York City. Houston was also included in the report’s list of most-rude cities at No. 10.
However, Texas also accounted for a whopping five of the study’s 15 most polite cities:
