Blues on the Green returns to Zilker Park this week, June 11-12.
This year’s concert series will feature new experiences and popular ATX bands, but the outlook wasn’t always as sunny for the 2024 event.
Let’s take a look at how we got here + what to expect.
What happened?
- January 17: Austin City Limits Radio announces that Blues on the Green is canceled for 2024, citing rising costs + a need for additional support.
- February 15: Austin City Council approves Resolution 23, which authorizes the city to co-sponsor the event. H-E-B also increases its financial support.
- February 16: It’s official — Blues on the Green is back for summer 2024.
Who’s playing?
Check out the lineup for Tuesday, June 11. Music starts at 7 p.m. both evenings.
- Grace Sorensen: The ATX-born artist was one of the youngest performers to grace the stages at ACL Fest 2023.
- Nané ft. Quentin Arispe: This soulful band plays funk-rock beats.
- Golden Dawn Arkestra: City Editor Morgan here. This is my favorite local band. Trust me, you don’t want to miss this headliner.
Here’s the lineup for Wednesday, June 12.
- The Point: Expect hip-hop and jazz fusion from this six-member group.
- Caramelo Haze: Check out their album “Noestásaquí” ahead of the show.
- Riders Against The Storm: This husband-and-wife duo is a well-known fixture of the Austin music scene.
What’s new this year?
- Black Sheep Lodge‘s Blues Beer Garden will sling Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Meanwhile Brewing beverages. Find the watering hole to the left of the stage.
- H-E-B’s sponsorship will bring a slew of interactive activities for event-goers to enjoy. Expect freebies + more surprises from the Texan grocer.
