Memorial Day remembrance events in Austin

Here are three events Austinites could attend to remember fallen service members.

The Central Texas community is coming together in plenty of different ways to remember the fallen.

Americans have a long weekend coming up for Memorial Day, which falls on Monday, May 26.

There is a lot to do with those extra 24 hours — see our monthly Plan Ahead — but if remembrance is on your heart, here are a few events to honor service members.

Memorial Day Freedom Run 5K/10K/13.1 | 7:30-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 24
Sweat it out in beautiful scenery of Brushy Creek Lake Park and raise funding for cancer, water, and education in honor of fallen heroes.

Memorial Day: Remember and Honor Event | 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on Monday, May 26
Join the city of Round Rock, the Round Rock Veteran’s Coalition, and Major General Michael McCurry for a ceremony followed by refreshments at Old Settlers Park.

City of Lakeway Memorial Day Ceremony | 11 a.m. on Monday, May 26
Join the Lakeway community at Emmaus Catholic Church to honor service members during this ceremony.
