There’s still time to commemorate Black History Month at one of Austin’s top destinations for Black history, arts, and culture: the George Washington Carver Museum, Cultural and Genealogy Center.

That’s My Face: Black Love Edition | Thursday, Feb. 13
Play Black pop culture trivia and grab snacks + drinks before watching a screening of “If Beale Street Could Talk,” a 2018 romantic drama based on James Baldwin’s 1974 novel.
HBCU Day | Saturday, Feb. 15
Connect with representatives from Historically Black Colleges and Universities nationwide at this event geared toward 8th-12th graders. Expect giveaways, panels, workshops, and performances from the Huston-Tillotson University Choir and the Prairie View A&M University Band.
Kids Day | Saturday, Feb. 22
Bring the kiddos to the museum for interactive activities and a chance to explore the impact of Black individuals throughout history.
Fourth Saturday Genealogy Seminar: Exploring the 1870 Census | Saturday, Feb. 22
Watch a presentation about the 1870 census + the importance of family trees, and bring your own research to get one-on-one assistance from an expert.
Create & Heal: The Art of Gospel | Thursday, Feb. 27
Gather your friends and family for an evening of traditional gospel songs and hymns.
“Second Sight” | Now-Saturday, June 21
Don’t miss this newly opened exhibit, which highlights works by Austin-based artists and explores the “mental pressures that arise from conflict.”
