The wait for MetroBike’s makeover is almost over — its new fleet of electric-assist bikes will launch in July.

What’s in the reboot?

  • A new name, BikeShare, and a new look
  • Revamped docking stations and more locations
  • Bikes will feature automatic motors with all-pedal assist, enhanced stability, and inline battery placement
  • A new BikeShare app

To prepare for the transition, MetroBike services will end Monday, July 1. Here’s what cyclists should know:

  • Purchases have been paused on 31-day and annual passes
  • As current equipment is retired, bikers may experience issues with bikes or stations
  • CapMetro will work to resolve issues in the interim, but will not invest in outgoing equipment
  • Account holders will receive a transfer email from CapMetro in July

BikeShare will debut via a rolling launch of the new stations and bikes starting in mid-July, and expects to be fully switched over in the fall.
