There are $40 million worth of upgrades in the pipeline for Block 21 — a downtown mixed-use development that is home to ACL Live at the Moody Theater and the W Austin Hotel & Residences.

A little background: Nashville-based Opry Entertainment Group acquired the 2nd Street District development for $260 million in May 2022.

Renovations will begin this week, starting with W Austin’s entrance, public spaces, and dining amenities. ACL Live will gain a new 2,060-sqft terrace event space over PNC Plaza. In a press release, the company said the renovation is meant to “celebrate Austin’s rich live music culture.”

Opry expects public-facing renovations to be complete by summer 2024 and guest room renovations by fall 2024. Don’t worry — both the W Austin and ACL Live will remain open during the process.
